Northern Health Care Foundation

Organization Profile

"Northern Health Care Foundation" was established by STC in 2006 and officially registered at the Ministry of Justice of RA (Registration number 03 Ա 071498, June 28, 2006. State Register of RA). The supreme governing and supervisory body of the Foundation is the Board of Trustees that consists of 9 members. The members of Board of Trustees of Foundation are "Support to Communities" NGO (Trusted Manager), World Vision Armenia representative, as well as representatives from Gegharkunik, Lori and Tavush regions.

The Goal

• To support the Primary Health Care in communities
• To support communities in raising and solving social and healthcare protection issues
• To support the improvement of health services in communities
• To support the livelihoods development in communities

The Foundation works in 10 villages of Lori region, in 12 villages of Gegharkunik region and in 17 villages of Tavush region. Total number of beneficiaries is more than 27,500, including refugees (approximately 25%). Foundation has sub offices in Stepanavan, Ijevan and Vardenis, with coordination office in Yerevan.

Since 2006 the Information Resource Center was established at the Foundation sub office in Stepanavan, equipped by public health and professional materials, TV and DVD player including didactic materials etc. The flexible mechanism is working for customers and visitors of Center. Several trainings, round tables, meetings are organized and conducted at the Center.

Current Activities

• Capacity building of established Community Health Committees (CHC)
• Conduction of meetings with CHCs to identify health related problems and find solutions
• Provision of essential drugs to health posts in regular basis, considering the actual needs of communities, with close cooperation and contribution of regional health authorities
• Planning outreach visits of narrow specialist doctors to communities, for check up of women, men, children and elderly, followed by further ambulatory treatment
• Health rights protection activities through info dissemination, survey conduction and analyses introduction, establishment Hot-Line,
